Durian Spa

Durian Spa is a name that makes people smile, but the spa itself is no joke. It is a Korean-style spa in Phu My Hung, District 7, and it has become my regular reset button whenever my shoulders seize up from too much laptop time. The first visit sold me, mostly because the therapist found a knot I had been ignoring for weeks and quietly dismantled it.

What to expect

You can choose a straightforward body or oil massage, or commit to the full Korean spa circuit with a scrub and sauna. I usually start in the sauna to loosen up, then go into the massage, and that order makes a real difference in how much tension they can release.

The therapists here lean toward firm, purposeful pressure rather than gentle gliding, which is exactly what I want. If you prefer something lighter just say so, they adjust without complaint. Either way, you come out feeling worked on rather than just lightly rubbed.

The space and service

The interior is clean and calm, with proper shower and locker facilities and a sauna that is actually hot. It is comfortable and well kept without trying to be a flashy resort, and that no-fuss tidiness is exactly what I look for. There is a quiet corner to rest with tea afterward before you head back into the heat.

The staff are used to Korean and expat regulars, so the language barrier basically disappears. They walk you through the steps, respect your privacy, and never rush the session. It is the sort of dependable place you slot into your routine and stop thinking about.

Location & getting there

Durian Spa is in Phu My Hung, District 7, the heart of Saigon's Korean neighborhood, so it is surrounded by good food for before or after. Locals can walk or ride over easily; from District 1 expect roughly twenty-five to thirty minutes by Grab depending on traffic. Save the pin in advance, because the streets here are a grid of near-identical blocks and it is easy to overshoot.
